Our Key Leadership Teams

Elder Board

The Elder board is comprised of 8 lay leaders and the Senior Pastor. This board is responsible for the spiritual leadership of the Church. Specific responsibilities of Elders include shepherding the flock, leading through example, teaching and exhorting, refuting those who contradict truth, managing the church of God, and praying for the sick. By definition, each pastor at FBC is an elder, however only the Senior Pastor is a voting member on the board.

Serving Deacons

The Serving Deacons are a board of men and women committed to using their spiritual gifts to serve God, our congregation and people who are in need. Their goal is to put into practice 1 Peter 4:10, which says " Each of us should use whatever gift he has received to serve others faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." Serving Deacons are responsible for serving communion, shut-in ministry, hospital visitation, benevolent ministry, prayer chain, baptism, special needs, and general care for the church members. These men and women work closely with the Pastor of Visitation.

Financial Deacons

The Financial Deacons are leaders who are charged with being the stewards of the resources at First Baptist Church. Their responsibilities are to oversee the physical plant and vehicles, make budget decisions, provide accountability, and see that the resources God has provided are put to work.

"After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.' "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share in your master's happiness!" Matt. 25:19-21

Mission Deacons

The Mission Deacons, along with the Director of Outreach, are responsible to educate concerning missions, communicate with our missionaries, encourage prayer and participation relative to missions and develop the Missions Financial Plan for ministry.
