At the conclusion of his sermon at Pentecost, Peter the apostle commanded his audience to "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38)
Our Lord Jesus Christ is our example in this as He was baptized and commands us to be baptized as well. We at First Baptist Church recognize baptism to be a symbol of one's coming to faith, repenting of their sins, and following Jesus in newness of life. The water represents the grave as the participant identifies with Jesus in His death and resurrection.
We have recently started a class for new believers who have a desire to be baptized. This class meets on the first and second Sunday of each month in hopes that the participants will then be baptized at the end of the month.
For more information, come to the information desk on a Sunday. The wonderful people who serve there would love to get you connected to the class!
